Ken Ehlers: Treasurer
Ken was born and raised in Seattle and graduated from Tyee high school in 1966. Summers in the late teen years were spent commercial fishing on purse seiners in Alaska and Puget Sound. Military service in Viet Nam followed, where he served in the Navy as an aircrewman on P-3 aircraft conducting anti-submarine warfare and rescue missions.
After leaving the Navy in 1972, Ken attended the University of Washington, graduating from the School of Business in 1975 with a degree in accounting. Next was employment with the accounting firm Price Waterhouse for three years, including work as an auditor for Intalco Aluminum. In 1978, when Intaclo offered a job in the Finance department, Ken moved to Sandy Point with his wife Christine, spending the next 25 years as accounting manager and in other financial positions. Early retirement from Intalco was offered and accepted in 2001.
Ken and Christine have enjoyed the unique environment that is Sandy Point for 32 years, particularly outings in their boat, a 45' Hatteras Sportfisherman which they keep in the Sandy Point canal.
One thing that most people don't know about Ken, is that he has a US Coast Guard 6-passenger captains license.
